Oakland Thanksgiving

Once again this year we will be having a “drive thru” Thanksgiving.  We will begin taking orders immediately and continue through Sunday, November 14th.   The Oakland Youth will be helping to distribute the meals here at the church.  Delivery will once again be available thanks to Jo Patton.  If you would like to order a meal or meals, please sign up at the Welcome Center, or contact the church office at 937-448-2287 or email Dianna at Dianna.sampsel@oaklandchurch.org.  There will be sign-up sheets at the welcome center for volunteers for preparing the meal, slicing turkey roasts, packing the meals as well as for pumpkin pie donations.

Trunk or Treat

The youth are sponsoring Trunk of Treat again this year on October 31 from 2 to 4.  This fun event needs a lot of help and support.  You can support us by hosting a trunk, donating candy or driving through to experience this fun event.  There will be a trivia quiz, voting for your favorite trunk and of course, candy.  We will also be serving hot dogs and cider.  If you are hosting a trunk, please contact Betty at 937-564-5522 so she can reserve your spot, answer any questions, or help with items for your trunk.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our congregation to work together to serve our community.  We had over 20 trunks last year and served over 100 families.  We are hoping you join us again this year.

Outreach Opportunities

The Outreach Ministry Team invites you to participate in brightening the Christmas of the 8 teens who reside at the Michael’s Resource and Treatment Center by providing monetary donations which will be used to purchase gifts and snacks for a Christmas Party which will be held on Tuesday, December 14 at 6:30 p.m.  Gifts will include Hoodie Sweatshirts, Socks, Toiletry Gift Sets, and Treats for the boys and Bath Towels, Wash Clothes, Bath Mats, Pillows, and Sheet Sets for the Center.  Please place your donations in the container at the Hospitality Center or include them in your church offering with a note identifying them to be used for this project.  The deadline is November 14.  Please see Pam Pohlman with questions.

Worship Leaders Needed

Do you have a gift for speaking in public or wish to develop that gift? Are you looking for a way to more fully participate in worship? Then you could be a worship leader!

Available Sundays are as follows: October 31. If you would like to sign-up, please write your name on the sign-up form located at the Welcome Center.

Sharing Table

A sharing table is available in the fellowship hall.  This is a place to bring your surplus fruits and vegetables to share with the congregation.  If there is something on the table you can use, please feel free to take it!  This is just another way we can work together for the good of all.

BDM Update

Volunteers Needed at Dayton BDM Site

Over the past months our Southern Ohio BDM volunteers have done a great job supporting the work of the national BDM effort to rebuild in the Dayton area. The national site ends Oct. 2, but there is still work to finish. Using local volunteers, there will be a last push to finish up through October. Our leadership, Rex Miller and Sammy & Phil Deacon, need our support as much as ever. Please either let Sammy know of your availability at 937-533-1989 or Burt by phone/text at 937-287-5902, SouthernOhioBDM@gmail.com.

Quote of the Week

Offerings and Tithes

We would like to remind you about how important it is to keep up with your tithes and offerings.  The past year has taught us a lot about preparing for the unexpected. There may be needs that arise in the next few months that will lead us to unique ministry opportunities’ and our giving helps fulfil that mission and meet the needs of both those within and outside the congregation.  There are 3 ways you can help with this:

  1. thru a web browser, Go to www.oaklandchurch.org
