Worship with Love Feast
The youth are sponsoring Trunk or Treat again this year on October 31 from 2 to 4. This fun event needs a lot of help and support. You can be a part of this by hosting a trunk, donating candy, or driving through to experience this fun event. There will be a trivia quiz, voting for your favorite trunk and of course, candy. If you are donating candy, there is a tub at the hospitality desk. We will also be serving hot dogs and cider. If you are hosting a trunk, please contact Betty at 937-564-5522 so she can reserve your spot, answer any questions, or help with items for your trunk. There is an idea board at the hospitality desk to help those who would like to host a trunk but need help with ideas. This is a wonderful opportunity for our congregation to work together to serve our community. We had over 20 trunks last year and served over 100 families. We are hoping you join us again this year!
Oakland will again be serving food for the Old German Baptist Brethren Conference. The Conference will be on Saturday, June 4th through Tuesday, June 7th 2022. The site is 4 mile SE of Eaton at 2976 Wayne Trace Road, Eaton, Ohio. It is 37 miles from Oakland with an estimated driving time of 45 minutes.
Worship Leaders Needed
Do you have a gift for speaking in public or wish to develop that gift? Are you looking for a way to more fully participate in worship? Then you could be a worship leader!
Available Sundays are as follows: October 31. If you would like to sign-up, please write your name on the sign-up form located at the Welcome Center.
Given the high rate of positive covid cases in Darke County, the Oakland Choir will continue to be on hiatus. If you are interested in providing special music during this time, vocal or instrumental, please speak with Pastor Paula.
A sharing table is available in the fellowship hall. This is a place to bring your surplus fruits and vegetables to share with the congregation. If there is something on the table you can use, please feel free to take it! This is just another way we can work together for the good of all.
Volunteers Needed at Dayton BDM Site
Over the past months our Southern Ohio BDM volunteers have done a great job supporting the work of the national BDM effort to rebuild in the Dayton area. The national site ends Oct. 2, but there is still work to finish. Using local volunteers, there will be a last push to finish up through October. Our leadership, Rex Miller and Sammy & Phil Deacon, need our support as much as ever. Please either let Sammy know of your availability at 937-533-1989 or Burt by phone/text at 937-287-5902, SouthernOhioBDM@gmail.com.
Quote of the Week
We would like to remind you about how important it is to keep up with your tithes and offerings. The past year has taught us a lot about preparing for the unexpected. There may be needs that arise in the next few months that will lead us to unique ministry opportunities’ and our giving helps fulfil that mission and meet the needs of both those within and outside the congregation. There are 3 ways you can help with this:
- thru a web browser, Go to www.oaklandchurch.org
