Worship Leaders Needed
Do you have a gift for speaking in public or wish to develop that gift? Are you looking for a way to more fully participate in worship? Then you could be a worship leader!
Available Sundays are as follows: August 15, 22, & 29; September 19 & 26; October 17, 24, & 31; November 21 & 28; December 19 & 26. If you would like to sign-up, please write your name on the sign-up form located at the Welcome Center.
A Prayer Experience is now ready for You! Looking for a way to engage in prayer in a fresh way? Come to Room E-3 in the East wing in July and August. The Education Team has prepared the prayer experience based on Psalm 139. The room is open and available for you to enjoy any time the church building is open. This is a self-directed opportunity for reflection and prayer.
Oakland Choir rehearsals will begin weekly on Thursday, September 16, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, and the choir will sing about every other Sunday. The only requirement is that you enjoy singing! If you would like to sing but have child care needs, please speak with Pastor Paula, and we’ll see what we can work out.
A sharing table is available in the fellowship hall. This is a place to bring your surplus fruits and vegetables to share with the congregation. If there is something on the table you can use, please feel free to take it! This is just another way we can work together for the good of all.
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO REGISTER FOR NOAC (National Older Adult Conference)
Our virtual NOAC begins on Monday, September 6, and goes through Friday morning, September 10. Except for zoom workshops in real time, all other sessions (keynote speakers, morning Bible Study, Field Trips, and Worship Services) will be available to watch any time after their premiere during the conference. Our preachers this year include Christy Dowdy (Interim Pastor at Bridgewater COB), Paula Bowser (member of Troy COB), Andrew Wright (our very own Interim Pastor); Don Fitzkee (Pastor of Worship at Lancaster PA COB), and Eric Landram (Lead Pastor at Lititz PA COB). The ever popular dynamic duo of Ken and Ted will share a Friday morning keynote as well as participate in worship that day. And worship services will feature musicians from across the denomination. Our Associate Pastor Paula has been working with NOAC for the past 8 years, and will finish her term this year as a NOAC Planning Team member and the Co-Coordinator of the Worship Team. If you have questions about NOAC, or need help with registration, please give her a call at 937-467-5672.
Oakland Youth are asking for help during the fair with parking at LeFelds. The schedule is at the Hospitality Desk. We have 2 hour slots but feel free to sign up for more. Fair begins August 20 and runs through the 28. Thank you for your support and if you have any questions, please contact Betty at 937-564-5522.

The Clothing Bank here at Oakland is moving outside for a clothing give away on Saturday, August 14th from 10am to 1pm. We currently have many newborn, small, medium and large children’s clothes as well as all sizes of adult men’s and women’s clothes. As always, all items are free and waiting for a new home. Please encourage anyone you know who could use these items to come and get them!
Summer Camp Update
The in-person Pieceful Quilting Camp will still be held at Bergamo, August 18th – 21st. Please check the Welcome Center for info.
Offerings and Tithes
We would like to remind you about how important it is to keep up with your tithes and offerings. The past year has taught us a lot about preparing for the unexpected. There may be needs that arise in the next few months that will lead us to unique ministry opportunities’ and our giving helps fulfil that mission and meet the needs of both those within and outside the congregation. There are 3 ways you can help with this:
- thru a web browser, Go to www.oaklandchurch.org
